The first day of AHRMM’s 2021 Conference did not disappoint. The decreased number of attendees proved to make the experience more personal and provided the chance for discussion about the struggles the current pandemic has brought on and the strategies being utilized to move through it.

The recurring conference theme of “recovery” goes hand in hand with TAG’s push for moving Beyond Recovery to help providers’ supply chains save better, perform better, and lead better.

TAG team members, Andrew Brandenburg and Brandie Wilkes are attending the conference and making the most of getting to connect with providers in person. Some of the most impactful speakers from yesterday were:

• Tammy Murphy, System Supply Chain Executive at Keck Medicine of USC, spoke about keys to unlocking negotiation effectiveness between suppliers and providers. Tammy spoke about the use of negotiation templates and preparing a defense before going into negotiation conversations. The presentation also pointed out key roles and responsibilities that need to be defined when negotiated.
• Brent Petty, CMRP, Chief Relationships Officer at Healthcare Business Media, spoke about the collaboration between providers and suppliers in our post-pandemic recovery. Petty’s insight into the cyberattacks plaguing our healthcare industry as a whole provides better and more secure ways of communicating and the possible implications of the ACA case.
